SRG Thai Boxing went for it on its first weekend of action for the 2017 Calendar year.
We had 4 Boxers performing, 1 on Friday at Real Hero Club and 3 at the Double Dragon Development Day.
At Real Hero, Ching Soot Raaeng Geert represented us in true SRG Style, waiting for the perfect moment to attack and attacking precisely. The crowd was mostly in favour of Jayy Tonkin, a fighter that we didn’t know much about it but we’ve been told he has been living in Thailand for the past years and have had some good fights there. Trying to get his name established in Sydney, he booked 2 fights against 2 SRG Boxers to start his career over here, but it didn’t go the way he expected.
Ching had only arrived back from Thailand on Monday morning, 4 days before the fight, where he went on a well deserved holiday after having 6 fights in a row. As he was first brought to Australia by the guys that promote Real Hero, he has an obligation to fight on all of their promotions, and he couldn’t get away from this one. With not much time to get ready, and using those 30 days off he had to see his daughter and family, Ching came in wanting to finish the fight quick and with a Knockout. Plan went according but we just didn’t get the knockout. Two beautiful hard elbows at the start of the first round and a dislocated shoulder from Jayy called the fight before the first bell. A lot of emotions from the fans at the end of the bout as all wanted to see more. We are sure they will re match some time in the future. Luis Soot Raaeng Geert was supposed to be the second encounter for SRG against Jayy but we got told he won’t be able to do it on March 11 due to his injury and that he has another fight booked already for April. We still look forward to this bout as it looks an amazing match up on the paper.
Then we went on Saturday’s action at Double Dragon Gym, with Luke SRG Robertson, Adam SRG Pozorek and Maria SRG Pisckunov representing our family.
The Development Days across NSW have been great lately, with lots learned in every occasion and also with the opportunity for everyone to have their first few fights.
Everyone fought really well, listened to their coaches and we end up with a Win for Luke and Maria. Adam fought a really tough opponent and knows now what he needs to work on.
We also had a kids presentation on Friday afternoon for the Thai Council, at the Chinese New Years celebration at Darling Harbour. Luis took a few of our youngsters there and they showed a little of what they have been learning at SRG Thai Boxing.
We hope you all had a good weekend as we did. We look forward to another great week of hard training!
