9th of March was a very good day for us all here at SRG. We got another Kids Grading done (this time we only had the kids that never graded before attending it) and in the afternoon we had another internal BBQ Bash.
The kids are so into Muay Thai lately that is really inspiring to see it. Those little faces paying attention to us and focusing in every details we are trying to pass it on to them. Even the religion aspect, the praying part and the way of saying thank you, in Thai, to your instructors and training partners, makes them the cutest things on planet earth.
With several of our kids now turning into teenagers and most of them wanting to get in the ring, it’s really inspiring us all to work even harder and see what the future is holding for us all. There was one of our dearest students, Louis SRG Fox that just fought on the weekend and won Gold in the International and Thai Martial Arts Games and Festival. Louis had a great fight and his opponent never came for the final, making him the champion of his division. The next day Louis stepped up a weight division and fought a stronger opponent that only wanted to kind of wrestle him to the ground and wasn’t really interested in exchanging Muay Thai techniques with Lou. We seriously couldn’t be prouder of this boy, from when he started with us to this full confident outspoken young men that we see today, it’s truly rewarding and with the backup he has from his parents, he has everything to one day be a champions of our sport.
The BBQ Bash is always a fun way that we encountered to have our students having a go but having the whole ring for themselves. When we spar here in the gym on Tuesdays and Thursdays, we have usually 4, 5 maybe 6 pairs inside the ring doing their thing looking around not to clash with anyone and also making sure to go as light as possible in order to to have anyone about to fight getting injured.
When they come in for the Bash, we have our head coach Luis Regis as a referee and the whole 6m x 6m ring for only the 2 that are having the sparring bout. It makes them feel like they are actually having a fight in the ring but still on a controlled and very safe environment. Hope you all had a great weekend and are ready for another week of hard training with us at SRG Thai Boxing Gym. Sorry we haven’t being active here very much but we are trying to create a few different features on our website and it will be another week or so until everything is back up and running. Thanks for you patience and understanding.
