Today we had the honour to meet and spend some time training with some of the biggest legends of the Combat Sports community.
To be very honest was a little more than that, we have had some memories coming back to our minds, as young boys in Brasil watching Renato “Babalu”Sobral smash every single person that would stand in front of him. Not only in Jiu Jitsu mats, and that alone was a great experience.
Another living legend that is a little closer from us, as he still is, and has always being the man holding pads for some of Brasil’s best fighters, owner of Kings MMA, the man himself Rafael Cordeiro. Seriously, this guy is the most humble human being that we have personally met. The amount of achievements he has and everything he represents to our sport are more than words would be able to express. He got really famous for training the likes of Jose Landi-Jones, Anderson Silva, Wanderlei Silva, Mauricio Rua, Murilo Rua and now Fabricio Werdum. You might not know some of these names but if you were born in Brasil in the 80’s and liked Martial Arts you would’ve spent countless nights waiting for the prime time in Japan to kick in to watch them fight.
They are all here on the training camp for Fabricio Werdum. Despite being a fanatic Gremio fan (yeah here at SRG we are INTERNCIONAL FANS, big fans to be honest) he is one of the nicest fighters ever, what a true gentleman he is. Funny bloke too and by far the fastest heavyweight we have ever seen. Watching him doing pads today with Master Rafael Cordeiro made us feel sorry for the guy he is fighting this weekend at the UFC Sydney. We wish them the best of luck this weekend at the UFC FS1.
Also on their training team was Ricardo Testai that is the Jiu Jitsu coach at Kings MMA in LA. What a great day we had today.
Smash it all boys, great memories and funny stories are just a glimpse of the Martial Arts journey you guys are enduring and we are more than your fans. Keep up with the good work, can;t wait to have you guys back at SRG Thai Boxing. Soot Raaeng Geert!
