The weekend just past was a special one. The NMSR (North Maroubra Surf Riders) competitions started and with the SRG Cup that was held on Saturday just past. An amazing day as always, with awesome people, great food, a few drinks and not so good waves, but hey, we can’t have it all. (Maybe next year we get it all with some pretty good waves too).
It’s so good to see how the club developed in the last few years, with so many members and everyone with the same goal, have a great day with lots of fun. The kids are the future of Maroubra and are not disappointing, they are all surfing really well and are so respectful towards everyone that is amazing to see.
We also had one of our fighters performing on the weekend, at Fire in the Shire, on the Saturday night. Tomasz fought well, but looked a bit tired and couldn’t really land any strong shots. End up losing the bout by points decision, in which it didn’t make too much sense as he still outclassed his opponent in every single round, but his opponent was definitely stronger and Tomasz could’ve done much better, and we know he can.
The Polish Toma is getting back in the ring on June 1st, at KAOS Muay Thai down in Canberra and is going there not to lose a single round. We have lots of faith on him and hope he works his arse off from now on.
We hope you are all ready for another week packed with action at SRG. Lots of classes, a few fighters in action (there are 2 more this weekend at the next Muay Thai Australia NSW Development Day) this Saturday 4th of May at VT1 Academy, in Chatswood.
Also this week, we have the so awaited MMA fight of one of our own, Edimar Teixeira, at Superfight MMA. Edimar will be fighting for the Lightweight Belt against the Reigning Champion Jamie Mullarkey at the Club Punchbowl on May 3rd, Friday from 6pm. If you have the chance to come along, make sure you do. This will be a first for us in the MMA cage, but Edimar after having 2 Muay Thai Fights for us, is back to his MMA routine after having almost 2 years off.
Find tickets for Superfight MMA by clicking HERE and make sure to use the code SRG so Edimar gets the bonus for your ticket purchase. See you all at training SOOT RAAENG GEERT!
